Together for the best Coke

As maintenance and spare parts coordinator at Edelstal plant, Marta Kuna-Kliszko together with the maintenance team is responsible for ensuring that all production lines run smoothly.

When Marta gets up in the morning, she doesn't know what to expect. In the FMCG industry, you need to be flexible. But it is precisely this challenge that Marta appreciates most about her job. The ever-changing environment offers her space for creativity and continuous learning.

For almost five years now, together with her team at Coca-Cola HBC in Austria, she has been ensuring production lines in Edelstal run smoothly, and maintenance work and spare parts are there when they are needed.

Apart from the technical aspects, there are often completely different things that really matter and affect the working atmosphere.

Marta spends about three hours a day on her laptop, the rest of the time she is in the plant. Coordinating activities between the mechanical workshop, the spare parts warehouse, production and the finished goods warehouse ensures that no two days are the same. "A good eye for details and openness to new perspectives make a great deal of difference."

Marta's favorite place in the Edelstal bottling plant is her office in the spare parts warehouse. Even though it isn’t located in the center of the plant, the rhythm of production and any interruptions are clearly visible. As soon as a malfunction is flagged, this quiet place changes to very vivid space where fast reaction is required. Technology and coordination are key to the success of the factory along with listening to each other and teamwork.

Without her team, work would not be the same.  Cohesion and community have an enormous importance in the production plant.  "My team is like my second family" says Marta when she describes her team members.  And not just her own team that counts – the best Coke can only be produced if everyone pulls together in the same direction and collaborates well with each other.

For Marta, the fact she can always rely on others is a clear strength at Coca-Cola HBC. A plant is too complex organization to be fully understood in all its aspects by a single person. You need the expertise of the technicians combined with the insights of the production and quality teams.  As a lone fighter, you lose.

Originally, Marta wanted to work in a bakery as a child, but it quickly became clear that her passion for technology was greater. With math and physics as favorite school subjects, choosing to study mechanical engineering was a natural developmental path. Nevertheless, like the methods in her work, baking is also a scientific approach, where all proportions of ingredients and thermal conditions in the oven must be precisely adjusted.

When it comes to drink preferences, Marta resists sweet temptations– her favorite drink from the wide Coca-Cola HBC Austria product range is Römerquelle still water.

With her sensory training, Marta knows exactly how each mineral water has its own taste nuances.  She demonstrates her sense for the small details every day when, as an important part of the team at the Edelstal bottling plant, she ensures that customers all over the country are supplied with their favorite drinks.

"When I was still in training, I never expected how important multi-tasking, communication and stakeholder management are in my current job to master all daily challenges." What helps the most is being open minded and trying to see interests from different perspectives, recognizing where making compromises is necessary and finding out short-term solutions to bypass, until there is time to implement something retaining for longer.
