Consumer health
We are responding to consumer requirements for a greater choice of beverages, such as those offering lower calorie options, added health benefits and different serving sizes. We are also providing more visible information nutritional information on labels.
A wide choice of beverages

|
|
We offer a wide range of waters, juices and functional beverages with health claims. These and other still beverages account for a growing proportion of our sales. Low-calorie beverages and waters accounted for 26% of our sales volume in 2010.
As a result, the average calorie content of our beverages continues to fall and is 19 per cent lower than in 2001. |
Responsible marketing
As obesity is a growing global health issue we want to ensure that we market and sell our beverages in a responsible manner.
We have helped to develop and implement industry codes of practice. These include the EU Pledge on advertising to children and the commitments made by the European Beverages Association, UNESDA. This approach is underpinned by Global Guidelines on Marketing to Children of the International Council of Beverages Associations (ICBA). The premise of these various codes is not to target marketing at children under 12 years old. The UNESDA commitments also include digital marketing communications.
In addition, independent audits verify industry compliance with these codes. Read more in the 2010 CSR Report.
Nutritional information

|
|
We first introduced the front-of-pack labels in our EU member states in 2007 to help consumers understand the calorific content of beverages. By the end of 2010, all sparkling beverages and most other products carry front-of-pack calorie information.
Guideline daily amount (GDA) labels provide at-a-glance information on the calories in a beverage, along with the sugar, fat, saturated fat and salt content.

Healthy, active lifestyles
The most effective way to manage body weight and prevent obesity is to balance the amount of energy (calories) consumed with the amount expended through physical activity.
We work with government agencies, sports and nutrition experts and industry peers to support physical activity and nutrition education programmes .
