Environment

Coca-Cola Hellenic is commited to minimising its impact on the natural environment as part of its broader efforts to integrate socially responsible behaviour and sustainable management principles in all areas of its operations.

The Environment

The company has established a comprehensive Environmental policy, which provides direction for programmes that are carried out in three priority areas:

Activities are carried out internally, in the responsible use of water and energy, and proper management of waste, as well as externally, through engagement with governments, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), local organisations and communities in community water projects , by reducing carbon emissions and by helping to establish packaging recovery and recycling systems.

Environmental management

We are committed to minimise our impact on the natural environment and include environmental stewardship and sustainable development in business planning and decision-making

Management systems

We have adopted the international environmental management system standard ISO 14001 in the majority of our plants.

Every plant is internally audited against ISO 14001 and The Coca-Cola Quality System (TCCQS) standards on an annual basis. Designated environmental coordinators at every site receive periodic training in environmental management systems and key issues.

Environmental footprint

Overall Ecological Impact of the Business

Our bottling plants account for only 13% of our total environmental impacts. By contrast, packaging, agricultural crops and cold drink equipment represent more than three-quarters.

Coca-Cola Hellenic calculates its broader ecological footprint using the eco-indicator 99 method.
