Coca-Cola Hellenic recognised as a leader in CSR reporting

A coalition of global investors from 13 countries has commended Coca-Cola Hellenic for its leadership in reporting on environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) activities. The coalition of investors also praised the Company for producing a “high quality sustainability report deemed useful for investors” in 2009. The investment group members, who manage more than US$2.1 trillion of assets, are all signatories to the United Nations-backed Principles for Responsible Investment Initiative (PRI) which supports the sustainable development goals of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). |
In assessing the 2009 reporting performances of publicly listed UNGC companies, the global investors judged only 44 out of 130 to be leaders qualifying for ‘Notable’ status on their Communications on Progress, www.unpri.org/files/leaders2010.pdf (379KB).
Coca-Cola Hellenic has been recognised as a Notable Reporter by the UNGC every year since 2005, and is the only Greek-based company to achieve leadership status.
Coca-Cola Hellenic is a signatory of the UNGC, a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
The Company’s Croatian operation was one of the first in the non-alcoholic beverage industry to publish a CSR report in line with the principals of the Global Reporting Initiative in 2003. Today, the Company is listed as one of the top five beverage companies in the world by the Sustainability Yearbook 2010 published by SAM sustainability management and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

2009 and 2010 workplace awards for Coca-Cola Hellenic in Greece
Coca-Cola Hellenic in Greece receives important recognition from the Great Place to Work Institute Hellas. For the second consecutive year, the company wins first place at the Hellenic Great Place to Work competition in the category of large companies with more than 250 employees.

The company was also listed the sixth best company to work for out of 1,300 European companies with more than 250 employees at the 2010 European Great Place to Work competition. Sixth place is a great achievement for the Greek operations which ranked 18th last year. The company also received the special distinction "Developing Employees Full Potentials" for implementing special employee programmes. |
Coca-Cola Hellenic in Italy receives best workplace award

For a third year, Coca-Cola Hellenic Italy wins a top three ranking in the Best Workplaces competition organised by the Great Place to Work Institute. |
Ulrik Nehammer, General Manager of Coca-Cola Hellenic Italy, states that this result “rewards our continuous commitment to training, developing talent and creating services. It is an acknowledgement of our ability to create and maintain a positive and pleasant working environment, a place where everyone has the chance to fulfill their potential thanks to the training and customised professional growth courses.”
More awards are received across our territories with Coca-Cola Hellenic Ireland winning the Best Corporate Social Responsibility award at the 2009 All Ireland Marketing Award for its Designated Driver campaign. This campaign rewarded consumers who were the ‘designated driver’ during the busy holiday period with free non-alcoholic beverages from the Coca-Cola HBC Ireland portfolio. This prestigious award is granted each year by the Marketing Institute of Ireland, the professional body for the Marketing industry throughout Ireland.
Coca-Cola Hellenic Bosnia Herzegovina was chosen again as the most desirable employer at the national AISEEC career days, where more than 30 companies competed in various segments of business performance.
Coca-Cola Hellenic receives important recognition at 2009 Beverage Innovation Awards
At the 2009 Beverage Innovation Awards, Coca-Cola Hellenic received three prestigious awards in various categories of the competition. This year’s awards took place in Munich, Germany and over 500 business representatives attended the ceremony.
The Company operations in Austria won the first prize for Römerquelle emotion blackberry and lime flavour water in the category ‘Best new flavoured water’.

The active lifestyle programme ‘Wake your Body’ run by Coca-Cola HBC Hungary, was awarded in the ‘Best health initiative’ category, by recognising the Company’s efforts to promote an active lifestyle among employees and members of the community. Coca-Cola Hellenic also received a Special Commendation in the ‘Best environmental initiative’ category for its outstanding and sustainable international contribution to water stewardship. |
More projects and campaigns initiated by the Company operations ranked very high in the competition. Among those was the ‘5-a-day’ Amita campaign in Greece, which was a finalist in the ‘Best health initiative’ category. Also, in the ‘Best ethical initiative’ category the emergency relief offered by the Italian operations after the disastrous earthquake in 2009 was very highly commended.
Coca-Cola Hellenic in Hungary receives the '2008 Heartfriendly Workplace' award

Coca-Cola HBC Hungary received the ’Heartfriendly Workplace’ award organised by the National Institute for Health Development, OEFI, at the ‘Flora Healthy Workplace’ competition. The award presented on July 2009 came as recognition for the Company’s results and efforts achieved in the ’Wake Your Body’ programme.

The criteria that companies have to fulfil in order to receive the award include excellent practices in workplace healthcare, healthy nutrition, active lifestyle, office ergonomy and mental hygiene.The final decision for the award winning organisation is made by a jury, consisting of experts from the National Institute for Health Development, Unilever Company, Oysterling PR Agency and Associations for Healthy Hungary.
Significant competitors of the Company were Pasc Nuclear Power Plant (second place) and the Hungarian Telecom (third place).
Coca-Cola HBC Hungary is now the first company in the country to have received this award for two consecutive years.
